Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine are invited to join forces at a networking lunch on Wednesday, 23 November.

The Women in STEMM lunch facilitates networking opportunities between Brisbane women in academia and industry.

University of Queensland PhD student and event organiser said the event was open to everyone.

“Brisbane has some amazing, talented women in STEMM - and we want to create opportunities for them to network and support each other,” she said.

"Creating networks between different levels in academia, between academic institutions and between academia and industry is very important.

“These connections improve job and collaboration prospects, professional support and mentoring opportunities.”

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» School of Mathematics and Physics Astrophysicist Professor Tamara Davis will give a brief introductory talk about women in STEMM.

The event will be held at Mu'Ooz in West End, a non-profit restaurant that supports training for refugee women.

“We have undergraduate and PhD students attending, as well as post-docs, professors and women from industry,” Samantha said.

“The lunch will be delicious and affordable thanks to our generous sponsors.

“Everyone is welcome at this fun, casual lunch to meet up and mingle.”

Sponsorship from Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»'s School of Mathematics and Physics, the ARC Centre of Excellence for Engineered Quantum Systems and the ARC Centre of Excellence for All-sky Astrophysics allowed ticket prices to be discounted.
