The Australian Research Council (ARC) has announced $25 million funding for 51 University of Queensland research teams to support a diverse range of fundamental research projects.

The flagship ARC Discovery Project scheme supports projects to expand the knowledge base and research capacity in Australia, and deliver economic, commercial, environmental, social and cultural benefits.

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ was awarded the second highest number of grants and total funding from the national scheme in the 2023 round.

The 51 approved applications represent a diverse range of fields across Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­'s faculties and institutes. 

Recipients include and for a project studying the origin and evolution of symbiosis between animals and bacteria.

, and will examine sport, culture and identity in Torres Strait Islander History.

In psychology, and will assess neurochemical predictors of cognition and the impact of brain stimulation.
