Members of the University of Queensland community have featured in the 2016 Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

The roll call of alumni and affiliates on the list includes School of Historical and Philosophical Inquiry Honorary Research Associate Professor and Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ alumnus Dr Dorothy Jane Watts, who was made a Member (AM) in the General Division, for significant service to tertiary education, particularly the study of ancient history, and as an administrator, academic and author.

School of Public Health Laureate Professor Alan Donald Lopez became a Companion (AC) in the General Division of the Order of Australia for service to science, both nationally and internationally, as an academic, researcher and author, and to the advancement of planning and policy development to improve public health in developing countries.

Honorary doctorate recipient and Business, Economics and Law faculty alumnus Dr Vincent William Fitzgerald was made an Officer (AO) in the General Division of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to business through executive and advisory roles in economic policy development, public administration and financial management organisations, and to the community.

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ medical alumnus Dr Hannah Gerti Krause was recognised as an Officer (AO) in the General Division for distinguished service to medicine in the field of urology and gynaecology, particularly through surgical assistance to women in developing countries throughout Asia and Africa.

Her work saw her living and volunteering in countries as far flung as Uganda, Bangladesh, Liberia and Cambodia.

Dr Stewart David Gill was awarded an OAM in the General Division for service to tertiary education and to the community.  He has been the Principal of Emmanuel College since 2005.

Business Economics and Law alumnus and honorary doctorate recipient Professor David George Le Couteur was honoured as an Officer (AO) in the General Division of the Order of Australia for service to medicine as a clinical pharmacologist and geriatrician, particularly through advisory roles and academic research activities.

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ alumnus Mr Williams (Bill) Stuart Turner was honoured as an Officer (AO) in the General Division of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to the mining sector and international relations through leadership in business and exploration collaboration between Australia and Africa.
